![When speaking to business owners, I still see so many trying to have too many of their fingers in too many 🥧 pies!
For example…
If your product is premium and luxury, you might think that by positioning your product as inclusive and “actually not THAT expensive”, it might help widen your customer base, and that everyone will still want to shop with you.
But the truth is, not everyone will be able to afford your product, and those that can’t will never spend money with you anyway.
In the meantime you’ve only hurt your brand — because your real customers are now doubting your quality, and no longer believe in your “premium-ness” because of how you’ve positioned yourself.
Same goes for any niche…
If your product is made for women - market it to women [even if “men could use it too”]!
If your business is a service targeted at athletes; even if “anyone can benefit from your services” — forget about the general “anyone” and focus on your target market.
This is why choosing a niche is so important - it helps YOU as a business owner determine your ideal customer, and speak directly to them. Forget about the different flavour pies; and instead focus on baking a bigger pie in your favourite flavour!
